KSDK will repeat ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ finale

Blown parts at KSDK’s transmitter messed up the first 90 minutes or so of the “Celebrity Apprentice” finale Sunday night, and the station has obtained permission from NBC to repeat the three-hour episode late Sunday/early Monday from 12:30-3:30 a.m. So set the VCR unless you, like me, have seen enough of Annie Duke and Joan Rivers to last a lifetime.

Speaking of KSDK, I also got an answer to the surprise appearance of Chris Matthews at 5:30 p.m. Sunday rather than “NBC Nightly News.” Turns out, when KSDK has Sunday baseball, NBC sports (in this case golf) are shifted to WRBU (Channel 46). Sunday, golf ran long, so there was no “Nightly News.” Plugging in Matthews (as opposed to dead air) was Plan B. That also explains, sort of, what happened a week earlier, when Matthews aired for 15 minutes at 5:30 and “Nightly News” came on at 5:45.

Don’t fail to miss it. I wouldn’t give Joan Rivers’ problems to a monkey on a rock.

Never fear. I wouldn’t watch it even if they taped my eyes open. As for KSDK/NBC, their problems extend to more than just this past Sunday. They’ve had all kinds of dead air lately. I’m surprised they can sell any advertising being so messed up. Like last night during Biggest Loser, a commercial started airing just as they were introducing more contestants. They also have been plagued with audio problems and then, when the little boy near Fredricktownwas found, breaking into the Nightly News just to have an interview with Hornbeck’s mother was just plain stupid. “Breaking News” NOT!

Has anybody else noticed that this was not the first time recently that KSDK has had major technical problems? The “Celebrity Apprentice” situation was probably the longest and most noticeable, but there have been sound problems on “Jeopardy,” there’s been black screen, and there’ve been occasions where there were several skips from commercials to promos or whatever and back to something else. This has been going on for the last several weeks. Maybe their cutbacks have affected the on-air product in the most basic ways. Not good!

This show used to be one of my guilty pleasures, but this season and Bad Hair Guy have proved enough. There was a time when I enjoyed Joan - but she has become an obnoxious shrew that runs her mouth entirely too much. I also never really cared for Chloe Kardashian (based on trying to watch the family reality-challenged show), but what BHG did to her because of her conviction was WRONG! His staff let her on the show and that incident had nothing to do with his opinions. Top it all off with a surgically enhanced “beauty” pageant winner (the pageant really helps these “beauties” get cut on?), and I just have to say ENOUGH! Don’t waste your time.
