‘Survivor’ finale: the Warrior vs. the Wizard
* spoilers *
“Who would you trust with your life? Everybody says J.T.”
That was during the challenge in which “Survivor: Tocantins” players had to guess who’d said what about whom. And it was unanimous that everybody loved J.T. Thomas. So, if he was that popular and that respected, not to mention that tough in challenges, why didn’t his competitors him off? Maybe they just liked him too much. Sunday night, they liked him enough to vote unanimously to give him $1 million over his buddy Stephen Fishbach.
I’d just finished writing that paragraph when Jeff Probst asked the castaways in the reunion show that very question. No good answer. I guess he’s just too darn adorable, and too genuinely nice.
Stephen, 29, is a corporate consultant in New York. J.T., 24, is a cattle rancher (now a richer rancher) in Samson, Ala. Their bromance endured from Day 3 to the very end despite the fact they’re as different as lox and grits.
Coach called them the Wizard and the Warrior. And speaking of Coach — he was awfully low-key during the jury inquisition and reunion. At this point, he’s seen himself on TV. Maybe he’s reformed.
The best line of the three-hour finale extravaganza actually went to J.T., after voting out Taj to take Erinn to the Final 3. “I’m already suffering the consequences, because Erinn is the most annoying person I know in the world, and she will not shut up.”
I watched a lot of it on fast-forward and hope you did, too. Is there any more tedious and time-wasting ritual in reality TV than the “torches of your fallen comrades” walk? I think not.
* Coming this fall: “Survivor: Samoa.” Looks like a fabulous locale.
* Did you note the big, ugly necklace Jeff Probst had in the last segment? Regis and Kelly gave it to him Friday and made him promise to wear it.
* Bid on “Survivor” items (including that necklace) to benefit Probst’s Serpentine Project, which helps kids aging out of foster care, in an auction on eBay now up and running. A set visit to “Survivor 10″ is already up to $10,000, with more than nine days still to run!

Maybe it’s just me but this show needs to slow down. Having three a year is just a little bit too much. I actually liked it when it was back in the summer with big brother. Now it’s like the amazing race, which is another i used to like.
Once Coach was voted out, I was going to be happy with whomever won. Has there ever been a bigger liar on this show? You’ll notice that he wouldn’t take Probst lie detector test, but bribed someone else to sign some bogus affidavit. Whatever, dude. Please go back to obscurity.
Coach was awesome. He was as entertaining as it gets.
