7 shows that should be on your radar this week (June 22-28)
I’m taking the day off Monday, but always thinking of you, I’ve left behind a somewhat more cryptic than usual “seven shows” list for the week.
‘America’s Got Talent,’ 8 p.m. Tuesday on NBC
Nick Cannon takes over as host for Season 4. First up: auditions.
‘The Cleaner,’ 9 p.m. Tuesday on A&E
Benjamin Bratt returns as extreme interventionist William Banks. In tonight’s Season 2 premiere, Gary Cole plans a TV anchor driven back to drink when his wife is diagnosed with terminal cancer.
‘NYC Prep,’ 9 p.m. Tuesday on Bravo
Real Manhattan teens act as if they’re in “Gossip Girl” in a new “reality” series.
‘The Philanthropist,’ 9 p.m. Wednesday on NBC
Tom Fontana (”Homicide: Life on the Street”) doesn’t let us down in this involving new drama, with James Purefoy as a millionaire playboy who realizes he can use his money for good. Jesse L. Martin and Neve Campbell also star.
‘The Real World: Cancun,’ 9 p.m. Wednesday on MTV
The granddaddy of reality shows, still 20-something at heart, returns for its epic 22nd season. Just so you know: Shooting wrapped up in Mexico before the swine flu outbreak, so at least nobody caught THAT in the hot tub.
‘Virtuality,’ 7 p.m. Friday on Fox
Ronald D. Moore’s new space adventure about virtual reality gone awry during a 10-year mission didn’t make it to series, but it’s a fun outing with an impressive cast.
‘Hung,’ 9 p.m. Sunday on HBO
Have you heard the one about the man who was so, er, well-endowed, he wound up going to work as an, er, escort? There you have “Hung,” starring Thomas Jane, Jane Adams and (as our hero’s ex-wife) Anne Heche.

Gail, you need to stop making “recommendations”. They’re always awful. Do you just drink a bottle of wine and throw darts at a TV guide? I mean…really…
