Bumped ‘I’m a Celebrity’ episode on Hulu.com today

If you wanted to watch the double vote-out on “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here” Thursday night but instead were slapped in the face by another preemption by Channel 5, no need to wait for the station’s rescheduled airing. Watch the episode today on Hulu.com, where it will be labeled Episode 11. Or, if you can’t watch on the computer or don’t like to, MTV has a full week’s episodes on Sunday afternoon.

KSDK has now preempted two of the three vote-outs on “I’m a Celebrity” — not because this isn’t a very good show but because paid programming is a money-maker. Fine; economic times are tough, but use some judgment and bump a rerun, not a serialized competition with audience-participation elements and hard-to-avoid spoilers.

I agree. I’m a Celebrity isn’t a good show, but jeez they bump the elimination episode. Twice now? Where are the brain cells at KSDK? I guess paid programming is a moneymaker, but the first half hour of last night’s preemption wasn’t paid programming. It was a special called “Momslikeme” though, hello, Sunday is FATHERS DAY not Mothers Day! Apparently the KSDK powers can’t read a calendar either.

In regards to the first vote out preempted. It was supposed to air at some ungodly hour Monday morning. I tivo’d that show, showed up on the Tivo guide, and instead I got some show about Taylor Swift. KSDK can’t even get the preemption show right!

The money made from paid programming must be worth the viewer loyalty KSDK is losing, because that’s exactly what’s happening. The frequent preemptions, their excessive use of weather maps, interruptions for local stories that could wait until news time, etc. etc. have me avoiding channel 5 as much as possible. Unfortunately - thanks to the laws that lobbyists and politicians make - I can’t avoid it completely if I want to see NBC shows on my TV, but I never watch KSDK’s newscasts, syndicated programs or daytime programs.

And after some of their recent high-tech stage productions during storms, my disdain for St. Louis affiliates has now extended to KMOV.

Sally, the MomsLikeMe show was just like an episode of Show Me St. Louis, features on various local businesses, which is the same as paid programming since the businesses paid for those features.
