A holiday week at the tail-end of summer isn’t peak time for thrilling TV viewing. But here are at least seven shows to contemplate putting on your calendar. Make that eight — “Mad Men” won’t take a Labor Day break and will be new next Sunday, Sept. 6.

‘CMA Festival: Country’s Night To Rock’
7 p.m. Monday on ABC
Performances from this year’s CMA Festival, held in June in Nashville and billed as country music’s biggest party, are excerpted for a three-hour special that also includes backstage footage and interview.

‘Greek’
8 p.m. Monday on ABC Family
The college and high school-age Pennington girls are crazy about this comedy-drama, a favorite of (shh!) plenty of parents, too. The season premiere finds Casey (Spencer Grammer) feeling all alone now that Cappie (Scott Michael Foster) has turned her down.

‘Shaq Vs.’
8 p.m. Tuesday on ABC
You heard about it; now see the results. Shaquille O’Neal takes on Albert Pujols in a home-run derby taped Aug. 13 at the home ballpark of the River City Rascals in O’Fallon, Mo.

‘America’s Got Talent’
8 p.m. Tuesday on NBC
Two years ago (sorry — two months ago) when this season of “AGT” began, thousands had their eyes on fame and prize money. Now, the Top 20 finally begin performing, with the Season 4 finale set for Sept. 16.

‘Rescue Me’
9 p.m. Tuesday on FX
“Drink” is the central theme of the Season 5 finale, and also the title of the episode, in which Uncle Teddy shoulders his loss, for awhile at least, and Janet and Sheila’s plan blows up in their faces.

‘Glee’
7:58 p.m. Wednesday on Fox
With the season premiere just a week away (Sept. 8), Fox repeats the “Glee” pilot (previewed last spring) in a “director’s cut” version featuring previously unseen footage. Note the eccentric start time to avoid missing the beginning of the delicious musical comedy-drama about a high school glee club.

‘Masterpiece Mystery: Inspector Lewis’
8 p.m. Sunday on PBS
In “Music To Die For,” Lewis and Hathaway discover “the brutal world of bare-knuckle boxing” as they search for the killer of an Oxford lecturer strangled with boxer’s hand tape. “From the epic operas of Wagner to Cold War intrigue and buried secrets, the case swells to a heart-pounding crescendo,” PBS says, “along the way invoking the memory of Chief Inspector Morse,” Lewis’ former boss. The previous “Inspector Lewis” installment airs at 6:30 p.m.

Two out of seven ain’t bad; ‘Masterpiece Mystery: Inspector Lewis’ and ‘Rescue Me’. I’ll avoid all the other nonsense.

Gail, this article is useless and does nothing but get you negative comments. Please stop wasting internet space with absolutely worthless information. Thanks!

Nope, sorry, sticking with it — but feel free not to read it. And don’t worry about the Internet filling up; there’s plenty of room.

Gail, shame on you for using your super powers to force Kyle to come to your blog, read it and then comment on it! Your super powers aren’t supposed to be used on the weak!

The force field of Tube Talk’s attraction is just too strong for some to resist. They come, they read and they hate themselves for it.

I’m always confused by the negativity. This is a good variety of what is on this week. The Shaq Vs last night was cool. I am a huge Cards fan and I loved watching Ludwick laugh at Shaq while Albert kept launching them to Chesterfield. I’m not going to watch some of the other shows but the Masterpiece Mystery sounds interesting and it wouldn’t have been on my radar if I hadn’t stopped by this article. The CMA Music Festival was also great! Thanks Gail!
