TV on DVD: Was Season 3 of ‘Heroes’ really so bad?

TV out Tuesday (Sept. 1) on DVD:

“Heroes,” Season 3
Two stars
Gosh, how I hoped “Heroes” would bounce back from its disappointing Season 2. Didn’t happen. During that long hiatus forced by the writers strike, my once-favorite show apparently forgot who its characters were or how they should behave. The action meandered. The plots were ludicruous. The writing was a cheese-fest — not always, but often enough (and painfully enough) to make many fans consider defecting for good. So why revisit the whole mess on DVD? Maybe because you didn’t see Season 3 the first time around and haven’t had your hopes crushed. Or maybe because you’re one of those who couldn’t understand what all the complaining was about and liked Season 3 just fine. The last episode, at least, is worth revisiting as a setup for Season 4, arriving Sept. 21 on NBC. New season, new hope? Hope so.

Also:

Why even bother watching a series season on television when you can just wait for the DVD to come out after the season concludes?
