End of ‘Runway’ for St. Louis native
After finishing at the bottom for three of the first four weeks on “Project Runway,” designer Qristyl Frazier was done in Thursday night by a little black dress declared safe, boring and cheap-looking by the judges.
Frazier, 42, a graduate of the Visual and Performing Arts High School in St. Louis and Stephens College in Columbia, lives and works in New York. In Thursday’s episode, she was challenged to design an outfit that would let her model stand out at a fashion-industry event and struggled after the model asked vaguely for “something flattering” in a dark color. Mentor Tim Gunn said her first try, in chocolate brown, looked messy, “as if she’s been rolling around in bed,” and Frazier threw that dress out, starting over with black fabric that didn’t inspire her.
In the end, she lost out to a fellow designer’s black lace and blue taffeta dress described as “bad prom” by the judges.
“Thank you for such an amazing opportunity. It was a dream come true,” Frazier told host Heidi Klum before getting the tradition “auf wiedersehen” double cheek kiss.
“It’s a little too soon for me to have been eliminated, I feel,” she said in her farewell chat with the cameras. “I have a lot more to show and a lot more to prove, and I didn’t get thata chance. Do I think I’m a great designer? I know I’m a great designer. Am I going to still keep moving forward? Absolutely I am. I’ve been doing this for a long time. This is all I ever wanted to be.”

Earth shattering news. Shocked I say. Shocked!
I thought Qristyl’s black dress was much better than Christopher’s green paper bag dress, ugh. Missed Nina and Michael last night and can not stand Heidi’s ugly hair bun in all the PR promos.
