‘Melrose Place’: You be the critic
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
For some reason, I wasn’t a “Melrose Place” fan during its run in the 1990s. In fact, in the days before I was paid to watch TV, I’m not actually sure I saw it more than once or twice. That’s why I’m wondering what fans of the original have to say about the CW’s “Melrose” remake, which made its debut Tuesday (and will repeat on Friday). Are you hooked all over again? Or maybe feeling hostile that the CW tinkered with a classic?

TV viewers are feeling hostile because network television has run out of new ideas. Spin-offs and retreads aren’t going to cut it anymore. Add this nonsense to all the reality TV garbage and network television has become a wasteland. Their ratings are going down the tube.
I loved 90210 and Melrose Place in the 90s, and I have to say, I loved 90210 last season. The premiere of Melrose on Tuesday was, in my opinion, just ok. I’ll give it another week, maybe two, and hope that it holds my interest.
I was a fan of both 90210 and Melrose Place in the 90’s too. I still watch 90210 but I have to admit it is a bit too young for me. At least with Melrose, I feel it’s a bit more mature–or at least it doesn’t make me feel as old as the new 90210..ha ha. Ashlee Simpson-Wentz? The jury is still out. I’ll have to give this a couple of episodes before I commit or give up. Just for the record–nothing beats a little Heather Locklear and you could throw in a Jack Wagner!
