Miss my big fall TV preview? Here it is
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Twenty-three shows make their debuts on the five broadcast networks this fall, beginning with “Melrose Place” tonight (Sept.
and continuing through “V” (Nov. 3). My fall preview has mini-reviews of all but one and includes a full list of premiere and season premiere dates. Here it is.

I killed my television over 3 years ago, and DO NOT REGRET IT ONE BIT!!
Television is the biggest black hole of time ever invented!!
I’m so glad you’re able to use the time you’ve saved to come here and post your thoughts.
What’s the expression, Gail? Ah, yeah…”OH, SNAP!”
There’s nothing “big” about TV anymore.
Newton Minow was right, a man 48 years ahead of his time.

The Fall TV season has become irrelevant in this era of basic and premium cable channels offering a cornucopia of summer programming that exceeds the quality of network television. Just look at the Emmy nominees for proof of this.
With programming available on the Internet and past TV seasons offered on DVD, who has a desire to watch live fall networking programming? Lets wait and see what survives before we bother watching the season on DVD next summer.
I like some tv, I just don’t like having to pay for it when so little of it on the pay channels is actually worth the $$.
I can kind of agree about the fall/spring “seasons” of tv, because it really is disappointing to become invested in a show like a “Lost” or “Heroes” with complicated plot lines, or with quirky characters in a sitcom, or whatever one becomes hooked on, and then have the show disappear after one year. That the letdown.
The upside is, as pointed out, that you can generally get PPV or DVD to fill in times when there’s “nothing on” or you want to see what you’ve missed on the tube or in theaters — but, still……
There is that anticipation of the return of a favorite…….. sort of like smelling the popcorn before you get the butter completely melted. That part can be a good thing, too.
Gail, obviously you did not have a chance to view any of the actual episodes of GLEE. The pilot looked promising. The first (and last for me) episode this evening (9/9/09) was absolute junk. I was hoping for another FAME, but, instead got awful music, disjointed editing, unattractive characters, humorless dialogue and situations I could not buy. Yuck !!
