7 shows that should be on your radar this week (Nov. 9-15)

While I struggle to come to grips with the fact that there’ll be no more “Mad Men” until next summer, TV goes on. This week offers a particularly oddball assortment of new shows, from a sweeps-month “CSI” stunt to a couple of original movies about love both bitter and sweet. Here’s a look:

‘CSI’ crossover, 9 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday on CBS
Ratings on the original “CSI” have dipped, and executives are worried that the departure of William Petersen is to blame. (Well, isn’t it?) Determined to encourage audiences to embrace Laurence Fishburne’s Dr. Ray Langston, producers have written him into a three-way crossover starting Monday in Miami and continuing Wednesday in New York before wrapping up Thursday in Las Vegas. Frankly, I think Fishburne is fine, and it’s not his fault that Ray Langston isn’t Gil Grissom. But that doesn’t keep “CSI” from feeling empty without Petersen.

‘Sesame Street’ 40th anniversary, 9 a.m. Tuesday on PBS
The iconic show for preschoolers (and parents) celebrates with an appearance by Michelle Obama. Here’s my story from Sunday’s Post-Dispatch.

‘Change the World: American Heroes,’ 7 p.m. Wednesday on HGTV.
Carpenter Carter Oosterhouse and designer Monica Pedersen join volunteers in transforming a historic home in St. Louis (and one in Philadelphia) into a comfortable, energy-efficient residence for veterans in what’s billed as “two of the biggest and best remodeling projects in HGTV history.”

‘CMA Awards,’ 7-10 p.m. Wednesday on ABC
Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood are hosts of the country music celebration.

‘Ann Rule’s Everything She Ever Wanted,’ 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on Lifetime Movie Network
Who says nobody makes miniseries anymore? This two night spectacular stars Gina Gershon as a newlywed (Ryan McPartlin plays her younger husband) who’ll stop at nothing to break into high society in Atlanta.

‘Flower Girl,’ 8 p.m. Saturday on Hallmark
Is florist the new go-to occupation for lovelorn women in movies? Jennifer Aniston played one in the widely ignored “Love Happens”; here, it’s Marla Sokoloff, who designs the flowers for everyone’s wedding but her own, until she meets two possible Mr. Rights. Marion Ross (”Happy Days”) also stars.

‘The Prisoner,’ 7-9 p.m. Sunday on AMC
Jim Caviezel and Ian McKellen star in a new take on the cult-favorite 1960s miniseries about a man who wakes up in a mysterious Village, minus his identity. I’ll be watching all six episodes (airing the next three Sundays) and have a review in Sunday’s Post-Dispatch.

This is such a great post. Thanks for the add! Great to keep in touch with what is happening in the CMA Awards. Unfortunately, they weren’t shown in the UK last year for some reason? Thank heavens for the Internet!
