Allison, 'Top Model 12'

Allison,

The new season of “America’s Next Top Model” (the 12th!) just started, but casting is already underway for Season 13, where the twist will be that all the contestants must be short. Well, shorter — the height requirement is 5 feet 7 inches and under. A local casting session is set for Saturday (March 7), sponsored by CW network affiliate KPLR (Channel 11). (Full info follows.) Or, download an application from the CW website, which also provides a list of other open casting calls across the country.

Here’s the release on the St. Louis casting session:

KPLR 11 is giving at least 150 area women the chance to be America’s Next Top Model.
The audition is being held at St. Louis College of Health Careers, 1297 N. Highway Drive, Fenton, MO 63026 on Saturday, March 7, 2009, beginning at 8:00 a.m. The event will feature taped catwalk and interviews for qualified applicants for the next season of America’s Next Top Model television program.
Only the first 150 eligible applicants will be guaranteed a taped audition. Casting is looking for females between the ages of 18-27, of diverse backgrounds, shapes, and sizes and a height of 5’ 7” or UNDER! Participants should go to www.cw11tv.com and download the Local Rules, Eligibility Requirements and Application. They must complete the application and sign the waiver. They are also instructed to come to the audition armed with at least 3 required photos: 1) Full body clothed 2) Close-up head shot 3) Full body swimsuit. They must also have the proper documentation and completed eligibility and registration forms.
Eleven finalists will be selected that day. All finalists photos will be posted online at www.cw11tv.com on or about 9:00 a.m. Central Time, Sunday, March 8, 2009.  The finalist with the most votes will be selected as the Grand Prize Winner, who will be selected to travel for a private audition with Top Model casting directors at a future place and date to be announced. KPLR 11 will submit to the casting team the entire videotape with all of the 150 auditions from Saturday.  Any of the women who audition may be called back for future auditions.

Not exactly on point, but not that much off point, either. I find myself watching Eleventh Hour just for the pretty perky blonde with blue eyes. How sad is that? I need to get a life.

Boo! So not fair for those of us lucky enough to be tall!

The requirements for seasons 1-12 have been that you had to be taller than 5′7″. I hardly see this new request of Tyra to have shorter women become models to be unfair…

they should make just a season for young adult girls like for teens…. its something to look forward to for young girls as adults but it would be such a great experience for young girls who wish two pursue the dreaam of becoming a model!!!! plus its a great idea to have a cycle for short girls because in all the other cycles tall is often liked more….

I think that having a season for older teens 16 and up would be a really great idea. I’m 16 and I would love love to be a model. I would love to have that kind of opportunity.
