‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Izzie lives!
ABC isn’t confirming, but reports are that Katherine Heigl will be back on “Grey’s Anatomy” next season. Meaning … you have to assume … Izzie lives!
The Hollywood Reporter quotes sources as saying Heigl’s option has been picked up and she’ll return as a series regular. When last seen, Izzie (who had survived risky brain surgery) was having a near-death encounter with best pal George (T.R. Knight) in Seattle Grace’s elevator to the afterlife.
Oh, about George: If you were wondering, his bus accident apparently was truly fatal. T.R. Knight, who had asked out, will not be back.
Heigl, who seems to be on the road to movie stardom, once wanted out, too, after complaining that she didn’t have enough good storyline. But she did some of her best work as Izzie battled cancer, and later said she’d stay if creator Shonda Rhimes would have her.
The assumption is that Izzie will be alive, not an elevator ghost. But you never know on “Grey’s Anatomy,” which begins its new season Sept. 24 on ABC.

Oh, please say it ain’t so!
I am sooooooooooo sick of the whole “Izzie” storyline….. hasnt’ she slept with every male character on the show? And done just about zero actual medical work? And pretty much whined her way through the last two full seasons (both the character and the snotty brat who plays her) ??
This show is truly turning into snake-oil medicine; it’s making me sick.
I agree! I would much rather George come back from his accident than to listen to more of the Izzie story. I am sick of her character whining about everything. She is not an interesting character and I could really do without.
