Ratings were great for the premiere of “Nurse Jackie,” and Showtime jumped right in to pick up the new Edie Falco comedy-drama for a second season.

“Jackie earned the best premiere ratings for any Showtime debut since 2004, when Nielsen changed the way it computed premium cable average,” reported TV Week. “The Falco comedy attracted 1.35 million viewers in its two combined Monday runs. That number is better than the premiere ratings for most everything currently on Showtime’s lineup, including Weeds, Dexter, The Tudors and Californication.”

Guys: I deleted all the comments on this post. Two, from the same person, were highly inappropriate as well as off topic. The other two then became confusing. So all gone.

Both Weeds and Nurse Jackie back to back makes an excellent Showtime evening lineup. Edie Falco is a great actress and deserves great credit for this new character. Gail, what did you think?

First time I’ve laughed out loud at a TV show in years!

I thought Nurse Jackie was ok but like most hospital series my complaint is that it’s not even remotely realistic. I know that people aren’t watching it for realism but as a nurse for 25 years it makes me laugh that anyone really thinks that nurses would have time to “get busy” with the pharmacist on the clock. Was I confused or did she actually go eat in a nice restaurant while she was at work? I know this is nit picking. I guess I need to lighten up and just go with it!
