What if Chris Kattan, depressed over his failure to break into leading-man roles, left Hollywood behind in favor of Bollywood? That’s the premise of a three-part miniseries, “Bollywood Hero,” airing Aug. 6-7-8 on the Independent Film Channel (302 on Charter). The IFC original, shot on location in Mumbai, also stars Maya Rudolph and Julian Sands. Longinus Fernandes, who choreographed the wonderful “Jai Ho” dance from “Slumdog Millionaire,” created the dance numbers for “Bollywood Hero.”

The best part of this? The Bollywood musical in which “SNL” veteran Kattan (playing himself) stars is called “Peculiar Dancing Boy.” Says IFC:

“Fresh off the plane, he’s flung into a world of sibling rivalry, cultural faux pas, funding issues and power hungry starlets. In his quest to become Bollywood’s leading leading man, Kattan unexpectedly finds a great dance instructor, trawls India’s countryside for his co-star, falls in love and ultimately fulfills dreams he never even imagined. Facing culture clashes, language barriers and complex dance moves, Kattan will stop at nothing to conquer his destiny.”
