Nielsen: More than 31 million watched Jackson memorial

This from Nielsen:

“A memorial service was held in honor of singer Michael Jackson on Tuesday July 7, 2009.  The event was carried live from approximately 1 pm ET to 4 pm ET on 18 networks.  The sum of average audience for those networks was 31,140,882 and (the service) had a combined household rating of 20.6.  The networks carrying the memorial service were ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, Telefutura, Telemundo, Univision, CNN, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, Headline News, BET, E!, MTV, VH1, VH1 Classic, TV Guide Network and TV ONE.”

And more than 6 billion DIDN’T watch it, despite the fact that it was on every-other channel you could surf through.

Good day to read a book.

Now if only they would shut up about MJ, except they won’t because the autopsy results will be released, and then there’s the fight over his kids, and then there’s the fight over what’s left of his $$, and on and on and we will never ever ever stop hearing about it!!

Sounds like more books in my future.

I was wondering what the total tv audience in the US and worldwide would be. Over 31 million for the US is big. Wonder what the worldwide numbers are? I read about 10 million in in the UK watched.
