‘Fringe,’ ‘Glee’ repeats will get Twitter enhancement
Call them “Tweet-Peats” — Fox does. Repeats of “Fringe” (8 p.m. Thursday) and “Glee” (8 p.m. Friday) will include live commentary, via Twitter, from cast members and producers. The tweets (as 140-character Twitter updates are known) will scroll at the bottom of the screen during the episodes.
(The “Glee” pilot, which first aired in May, will also be repeated, minus enhancements, at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday. Fall’s best new series, “Glee” begins its season early, on Wednesday, Sept. 9.)
Tweeting for ”Fringe” will be executive producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman and cast members joshua Jackson and John Noble (father and son Peter and Walter Bishop). For “Glee,” cast members Lea Michele (Rachel), Kevin McHale (Artie), Mark Salling (Puck) will Twitter for the Eastern and Central time zones. Cory Monteith (Finn), Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Chris Colfer (Kurt) take over for the West Coast feed.
Fox says:
“During the episodes, viewers will have the opportunity to follow the cast and producers’ tweets -– both online via Twitter and on-air via a lower-third scroll. They will provide commentary about the episode, answer fan questions, reveal behind-the-scenes secrets and offer exclusive insights on the upcoming season…. Fans have the chance to interact with the cast and producers by replying to any of their tweets.”

Well if the schedule’s right, we won’t get to see either of them here at those times thanks to preseason Ram’s football. Aren’t there supposed to be sports channels for that stuff?
My DVR listings show no “Fringe” Thursday (boo) but do show both “Glees,” Wednesday and Friday.
My DVR also shows Glee on Wednesday and Friday, and Fringe on Friday morning at 12:30. Zap2It also has Fringe listed at 12:30 am, but TitanTV shows it at 12:05 am. I guess the reality is that it all depends on when the game is over. Once again local programming disrupts the schedule. Fortunately Fringe is a rerun, but it wouldn’t matter if it was the season premiere, they would still put sports first.
Sigh. I was ready to watch “Fringe” when the annoying Tweeting began. And I do mean annoying. All of 4 or 5 people were “tweeting” (don’t you hate that expression?). It reminded me of a bad version of the old “pop-up” videos on MYV or VH2 years ago.
Please do not do this junk again. It was annoying at best and a real pain. If this is done again, my family and I will turn it off and never watch it again. It was something that to me is pandering to the lowest form of lunacy. I watched it about long enough to never watch this again.
