KPLR sets new weekend schedule, including more news
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
KPLR (Channel 11) will add a one-hour Sunday night newscast beginning Sept. 27. Anchors aren’t set yet, but the hour will feature an extended sports segment with Rich Gould.
The station’s new weekend schedule, beginning next month, also includes:
- The St. Louis Junior Football League, with games airing at 1 p.m. Saturdays for 10 weeks, starting Sept. 26. The unscripted cable hits “Deadliest Catch” (about crab fishing in the Bering Sea) and “American Chopper” (about a motorcycle shop run by the quirky Teutul family) take over the 1-3 p.m. Saturday time slot beginning Dec. 5. “Catch” airs in broadcast syndication for the first time.
- ‘Bones,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “House” from 7-9 p.m. Saturdays. “Bones” (Oct. 3) and “Grey’s Anatomy” (Sept. 19), both new to broadcast syndication, begin with Season 1. “House” will continue its run on KTVI, which will also air “Grey’s.”
- More “Stooges.” “The Three Stooges” return to the KPLR lineup at 11 p.m. Saturdays, in a comedy block with “Family Guy” (10 p.m.), “South Park” (midnight) and “Chappelle’s Show” (1 a.m.)
- Sunday movies. After the CW experimented, disastrously, with outsourcing its Sunday lineup last season, the network has returned the time to its affiliates to use as they like. KPLR will slot movies at 8 p.m. Sundays, with a package including “Fargo,” “Hannibal,” “Hotel Rwanda,” “Hoosiers” and “Legally Blonde.”

well i am happy about the three stooges. As for a new newscast from channel 11…..why?
‘The Three Stooges’ and KPLR - Channel 11.
A relationship that’s been around for over fifty years.
Ocassionally, there’s a trial separation…but, inevitably, they ALWAYS get back together…
…and that’s a GOOD thing for the rest of us (!)
American Chopper has been airing in syndication on KPLR since last fall.
You’re right; “Deadliest Catch” only is new this fall.
Why news on channel 11………?
Two words……….Melanie Moon, that’s why!
CW can put on local news programs but KDNL (ABC 30) can’t. Pathetic.
Rich Gould is as entertaining as any local sportscaster. More Gould and more Stooges is great news. Good move Channel 11!!!
I wish they would bring back Cheers too - that was classic.
Jr. League Football? On the air at the same time as college football? That’ll get a big audience, LOL.
