CBS spins off ‘Criminal Minds’; what’s next?
“NCIS: Los Angeles” is a hit, and next up for CBS is a spinoff of “Criminal Minds,” reportedly in the works for next season. With three editions of “CSI” and two of “NCIS” (which, you may remember, was a spinoff of “JAG”), on the air already, I’m wondering what’s next. “Ghost Whisperer: The Next Generation,” featuring Melinda’s baby? “Numb3rs” 2, 3 and 4? Or maybe a spinoff of a spinoff: “CSI: Miami: Undercover.”
“Criminal Minds” is another hit procedural for CBS, drawing more than 15 million viewers an episode — all apparently more willing to stomach its hideous, gory, nasty crime stories than I am. (I want “Without a Trace” back!) The spinoff, expected to feature an all-new cast, will be introduced as an episode of the original next spring if all goes well.

Without A Trace started out fine, but sadly it turned into a soap opera about Jack’s divorce and all the other agents hooking up with each other. I’m glad it’s gone.
ummm…count me in for more criminal minds!
I do miss Without a Trace, but I love Criminal Minds. I don’t know about a spinoff, though. Something different might be nice…like a cool new science fiction show. There aren’t enough of those.
How come a few years ago, somebody said there were too many Star Trek shows on the air, when they were only once or twice on during the same season. There was never more than a year overlap and no overlap between Voyager and Enterprise, yet we have at least 3 Law and Orders, 3 CSI’s, and 2 NCIS’s on at the same time for years on end.
Too much of the same thing, folks. Only slightly better than reality since its scripted, but really some original ideas would be nice.
1 Star Trek show is too many.
can;t wait for CSI: Wasilla…starring everyone’s favorite “intellectually challenged” investigator, Sarah Palin. She solves murders with the help of a pack of born-again wolves who “witness” to their suspects and speak in tongues during interrogations.
In the first episode, her favorite wolf must go before a death panel after breaking both hind legs and becoming addicated to OxyContin. They turn to special guest star Rush Limbaugh to provide counseling…only to find out that he is having a secret sexual relationship with Fox News’ Glenn Beck (on the DL of course).
Sarah faces a crisis if conscience-the likes of which haven’t been seen since she looted Sak’s and Neiman’s prior to the election.
Nail-biting stuff, folks.
In order to “improve” on the original, they’ll have to make it even darker and more perverse.
This decision of NBC’s to run Leno at 9 is looking better and better all the time.
i miss without a trace and the unit
don’t think a spin off from Criminal minds is going to be that good..
I’m getting tired of all these spin-off shows. It’s further proof that network television has run out of fresh ideas. Why would anyone want to watch such a grim show as “Criminal Minds” let alone a spin-off?
