ABC abandoning ‘Eastwick’

"Eastwick" will exit ABC.

Thirteen is unlucky number for ABC's canceled "Eastwick."

TV insiders are reporting that ABC has declined to order any more episodes of witchy dramedy “Eastwick.” Writes Daniel Feinberg at HitFix.com:

The end can hardly be considered a surprise. Despite airing out of ABC’s highly successful “Modern Family”/”Cougar Town” comedy block, “Eastwick” has reliably squandered its solid lead-in. In its most recent airing on Nov. 4, “Eastwick” averaged only 4.6 million viewers and a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demo. “Eastwick” has been the only first-run network drama to occasionally lose to NBC’s “The Jay Leno Show.”
“Eastwick,” starring Rebecca Romijn, Lindsay Price and Jamie Ray Newman, with Paul Gross as the mysterious stranger bringing out the women’s special powers, will apparently finish its 13-episode run.
With “Eastwick” exiting, ABC is said to have ordered five additional episodes of “The Forgotten,” for a total of 18. That leaves “Hank’ as the only first-year series on ABC whose fate is still in doubt. When the network picked up full-season runs of “Modern Family,” “The Middle” and “Cougar Town,” “Hank” was conspicuously ignored.

Never watched Eastwick - thought it looked like a bad idea all around.
Hank isn’t that funny, and The Middle is just a terrible show.
Cougar Town is more annoying than anything.
Modern Family is hilariously awesome.

I abandoned Eastwick after watching 15 minutes of the first show!

I clearly have no taste, because I weirdly enjoyed Eastwick. Mindless entertainment, I suppose.

Very disappointed about the cancellation of Eastwick. I previously watched very little on ABC until this season. My grandaughter and I looked forward to the show every week and found it to be cute and entertaining. Hopefully another network will pick it up in the near future. Too bad ABC didn’t give it time to pick up more viewers.

Also, any show that has Kelsey Grammer in it is bound to be a success if and when it is given the opportunity.

I really liked eastwick. I thought it was interesting, a little weird at times, but I liked it.

“I really liked Eastwick. I never watched ABC too much and its was something different than the current sitcom fare. I’m annoyed.”

ABC did not give this show enough PR. It had the potential to make “Witches” the new “Vampires”. There needed to be more about the show in more places. (C’mon, I mean what woman wouldn’t want the power to make men obey, or make lightning strike their ex-husband?)
My suggestion would be to sell the series to WE TV and let them make a dash for it.

You know i honestly thought Eastwick was the best show ABC has ever done. I mean really give it a chance. Every other show on ABC i cannot stand. They cancel every series they start and its getting old. I’m done getting my hopes up to watch a show when ABC is bound to cancel it anyways. To be honest Eastwick is an amazing show and from what i heard Lifetime might possibly pick it up for a second season. At least thats whats buzzing around the net.
