President Logan lives! Gregory Itzen returns to ‘24′
President Charles Logan (the great Gregory Itzen) will be back on “24″ for Season 8, arriving Jan. 17-18, Fox says. The disgraced president was last seen being carted out on a stretcher after first lady Martha Logan (awesome Jean Smart) stabbed him with a fruit knife. If my memory serves, we didn’t know whether he lived or died.
“Itzin’s return to ‘24′ will bring together the series’ two Emmy-nominated ‘presidents’ for the first time when sitting President Allison Taylor (Emmy Award winner Cherry Jones) reluctantly enlists Logan to assist with an escalating international diplomatic crisis,” Fox says. “The opportunity for these two remarkable actors to share the stage was simply too compelling to pass up,” executive producer Howard Gordon is quoted as saying.
Fox has this to say about the new season:
Season Eight resets in New York City where a retired Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is unwillingly drawn back into the intense action after learning of a plot to assassinate Middle Eastern peace-keeping leader Omar Hassan (Anil Kapoor). Meanwhile, Renee Walker (Annie Wersching) and Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) return alongside CTU newcomers Dana Walsh (Katee Sackhoff), Brian Hastings (Mykelti Williamson) and Cole Ortiz (Freddie Prinze Jr.).

Although not technically the “President” at the time, Dennis Haysbert was also nominated for an Emmy in season 1 for his portrayal of David Palmer.
For some reason, I never really “got” Cherry Jones as President Taylor. Perhaps it was her same never-ending facial expression (smirk?) no matter the circumstances. Then again, maybe because Haysbert and Itzen were so much more believable.
A welcome return for Itzen.
Wow, 24 is really reaching. As if bringing Tony back from the dead wasn’t bad enough. I think I’m out.
this show jumped the shark two seasons ago…Cherry Jones brough some much needed sanity to the show, but it wasn’t enough to save it…how many outlandish plots and cultural steroetyping can one show do before it grows stale? The torture scenes two seasons ago drove me away…and then I stayed with last season for about half of it and then became bored.
Its time has come and gone-someone please send them the memo.
I prefer the much more realistic BBC Series “Spooks” or “MI-5″ as it is called on BBC America.
It will be nice to see Katee Sackhoff on the small screen again.
