TV review: ‘Royal Pains,’ Thursday on USA
‘Royal Pains.” 9-10:17 p.m. Thursday on USA. Three stars
“Royal Pains” may be the perfect scripted summer series — silly and sunny, with plenty of fun and occasional doses of drama. Mark Feuerstein stars as Dr. Hank Lawson, a trauma physician so talented and resourceful that he can save a life on a basketball court using gym bags and ice. Hank has a lovely New York apartment and a gorgeous fiancee (”I always wanted to marry a doctor”), but after he’s unfairly blamed for a death at his hospital, he’s fired and winds up eating cereal and watching TV in his underwear all day. Fiancee leaves him, everything’s repossessed, and he’s left with a pile of dirty dishes and depression until his nerdy CPA brother (Paulo Costanzo of “Joey”) drags him to a weekend in the glitzy Hamptons.
Ah, the Hamptons, where everyone is rich, or beautiful, or rich and beautiful. Through an improbable but entertaining chain of events, Hank winds up being much in demand for his medical talents. Wealthy Bruno (Campbell Scott) suggests he become a “concierge doctor — a private physician for hire. It’s all the rage.”
Also putting pressure on Hank is his brother, who envisions himself becoming part of the Hamptons party scene, and an aspiring assistant named Divya (Reshma Shetty). Hank is having none of this, until the beautiful Jill (Jill Flint), administrator of a shabby Hamptons hospital, takes him for fried clams, and he’s hooked. Jill has a good heart; so does Hank, and so does “Royal Pains.”

I wonder if this will be available at the iTunes store?
Conan is too silly for me. I thought the tram tour was just too zany. I liked Jay and Johnny. It will be interestig to see what Jay’s 9:00 pm show will be like. I think I will like it better than Conan’s show.
