flower.jpgAnybody out there watch “Meerkat Manor”? I’d followed the adventures of those cute little furry folks from the beginning, but this season has been tough — too much tragedy. So the last couple of episodes still sit on the DVR, and I can’t bear to watch until I know: Who (which?) died last Friday?   ***Now that I know: RIP, Flower*****

Hi Gail: I watch Meerkat Manor and I am sorry to say it is Flower, the fearless head of the family for so long, who died. She died from a Cobra bite. I read that Animal Planet is going to do a tribute to her.

Thanks. That’s what I thought, and honestly, I had mixed feelings about Flower, although she was certainly good at her job. I’ll bet those researchers who had filmed her for so long were sad, though. Come to think of it: How long do meerkats live, anyway? Or in the Kalahari, does nothing die of old age?

It has been an extremely sad season on “Meerkat Manor”. I keep saying I’m going to stop watching because it’s so sad, but then I inevitably do because I love the meerkats.

I have mixed feelings about Flower too because of the times she evicted her pregnant daughters and the time she abandoned Mozart and her newborn pups. But unlike some females in other groups, I don’t think she’s killed any pups. And after she adopted that abandoned Zappa pup in Friday’s episode, it made her death even sadder.

Thanks Rams747 for updating Gail, as I also missed the eppy.

Gosh Gail, doesn’t that deserve a meeting with “Phyllis from The Office” for Rams747?
