Who should hook up on ‘House’?

I guess we’re supposed to be rooting for those two cute kids House and Cuddy (aka Huddy to their online fans) to get together. Last week’s kiss — cut off by DVRs everywhere because Fox let the episode run long — was a much-awaited reason to cheer, and prompted much discussion this week. Except: I don’t see it. To me, this is as big a fizzle as the time they hooked House up with Stacy (Sela Ward). Here are couples on “House” I think have more chemistry.

1. Cuddy and Wilson. In their tiny scene this week when he said (lied?) that he was attracted to her, they were way hotter than she and House ever are.

2. House and Cameron. Remember when she had the crush on him and made him take her on a date? That relationship would have been so wrong, but so right.

3. Chase and Cameron. Although it’s not quite the same since Jesse Spencer and Jennifer Morrison broke off their engagement.

4. Foreman and Thirteen. I mean, why not?

5. House and that cute nutritionist played by Piper Perabo in Season 3. (Remembered the character but had to look up the details.)

6. House and Wilson. Really, isn’t their bromance the pivotal relationship on the show?

Yes to all of your pairings. Except House and Honey, the nutritionist. She really was too clueless to hold anyone’s attention, much less House’s.

House and Wilson! Their love transcends everything.

Anything that can make Chase flash another one of those 1000 Watt Smiles gets my vote, so more Chase and Cameron! There was no awkwardness at all between the characters that wasn’t supposed to be there, so the actors did a wonderful, professional job!

House isn’t mature or selfless enough to be a good pairing for anyone. Let him and Wilson grow old together like a modern Odd Couple.

I agree with Meg. There is no romantic future with House, although Cuddy knows him better than any other woman ever could. Cuddy would be painfully aware that any relationship with him would be fleeting at best. So romance on this show would have to be between other characters. I’m not a big fan of Wilson (emotional weenie), so I would like to see more with thirteen and/or Foreman.

5. Piper with House? Give me a break!
4. Thirteen with Foreman? You say why not but I say why. Just so she’s not with a girl?

Let’s pair Thirteen with the Grim Reaper and get her off this show - pronto.

who really cares, this show is a waste of an hr of tv. he is obnoxious, and cold and uncaring. I watched it once, and that was all I needed. from the previews it doesnt look like too much has changed. why would anyone want to sleep with him. marie

I think it is much more interesting to watch House and Cuddy dance around each other. If they hooked up, I think it would ruin the show. That being said, I do wish House would clean up a bit, maybe take a shower and shave once in a while. And Cuddy needs to wear more age appropriate clothes that are actually in her size. I read an article about her I think in TV Guide that said they purposely dress her like that. No professional woman in her position would dress that provacatively and expect to be taken seriously. Her clothes are way too short for her age, way too low-cut and way too tight. JMHO

I do like the chemistry between House and Cuddy and would love to see her get pregnant by him. Maybe a drunken liason where she doesn’t recall the deed and or him as well. I’m sure the writers could figure out the details. Chase and Cameron are good, Foreman and Thirteen as well. How many times has Wilson been married ? Maybe he should get back with a previous wife.

Sorry but I disagree, House and Cuddy have amazing chemistry and this new twist is more than I could have expected, even Wilson is rooting for them to become a couple and when you’ve got Wilson on your side nothing but good things happen:)

No, sorry, House and Cuddy have all kinds of sizzle and this storyline is being beautifully developed. The writers are doing a great job. I do indeed remember House and Cameron and still cringe at the idea of following that seriously. That storyline ended just as it should have. Cameron is much better with Chase–that is a relationship that is interesting to watch. Meh to all the other suggestions. House and Cate had possibilities but I think that window of opportunity has passed. House and Wilson are indeed pivotal, but the writers showed that Amber was no House proxy for Wilson in Wilson’s Heart, but rather the real thing. These two men love each other, but Wilson does not feel romantically about House. And I say this as a person who for years said House and Wilson were the most viable relationship on the show. It turns out I’m enjoying the House/Cuddy exploration, too.

Sorry, but I disagree. Add me to the list of those who believe House and Cuddy have more chemistry than anyone else on the show. What Wilson said last night about Cuddy possibly being the only woman for House was pretty much reinforced by David Shore early in the season. House and Cuddy may not go anywhere anytime soon - if ever - but then again, I doubt it would make ANY sense for him to hook up with anyone else.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I think the writers have simply written themselves into a corner here.

House and Wilson have the best chemistry on the show and are the most interesting characters. The writers have failed to provide any female love interest that feels to their audience worthy of House’s affections, but they insist on House and Wilson’s respective heterosexuality.

It’s becoming a problem to all attempts at romance for House. No House/female relationship will ever feel quite right to the audience, because it’s so clear by now (Season Five) that the only person capable of handling any kind of intimacy with him is Wilson. Yet no one working on the show (with the possible exception of Hugh Laurie) seems willing to view that relationship in a romantic light.

So I agree with #6, but I’m surprised it’s the last one on the list. It’s at the top of plenty of others’ lists.

I agree with everything Emily says. When I first started watching the show five years ago, I enjoyed some aspects of Cameron’s crush on House and even Stacy’s little arc on the show. Shockingly, though, as the years progressed I came to find the most organically evolved, interesting and provocative relationship was the one between House and Wilson. I love the complexity and love between the two men friendship-wise and (remain ever hopeful) that romantically-wise one day that may explored as well.
Other than that I prefer to see House alone.

I totally agree. I do not see the whole thing between House and Cuddy. It’s just really awkward to watch, even when it was before the kiss. The kiss between them I think, was the nail in the coffin because instead of a playful banter usually, it’s just this weird silence between the two of them. That’s supposed to be good? Please. They were better off keeping them just as friends, and develop Wilson and Cuddy. They are so much better suited for each other and Wilson’s the kind of man that Cuddy needs. Not House. I also agree with you about House and Cameron. I’m more into that couple because opposites attract. And you couldn’t get more opposite than House and Cameron. It would have been interesting and fun to watch.

The ONLY pairing that works for me in terms of chemistry is House/Wilson. All the other just makes me hit the TIVO fast forward button.

Thirteen and Cameron. Just WOW. Easily two of the most stunning women on TV, although it’s hard to go past their poorly-written characters.

Cameron and Chase. They’re just too, too cute.

House and Cuddy. Was never a commitant fan until “Joy”. I like the idea of Cuddy being House’s kryptonite, his weakness, his drug.

Let’s see: it’s Season 5, House makes for an unctuous lover, Cuddy knows him too well, Wilson is an emotional child……yep, it’s time for this show to “jump the shark”. There are so many things about this show that makes it hard for me to “willingly suspend disbelief” that any unlikely romance between any of these characters will make me take it off my TiVO Season Pass. I’m just saying. And to the person that suggested a romance between Thirteen and Cameron: may I remind you that the producers of “Grey’s Anatomy” decided to end the story arc between the two “bisexual” women on that show, not because it wasn’t a popular arc but…..well, draw your own conclusions.

Fotunately, the House Powers That Be have more guts than the GA PTB. Kudos to the House folks.

Want an interesting story line: In a dream sequence, House hooks up with a woman who looks and acts just like House. They both attract and repel each other……there is great love and great hate together. Then, just as the real romance begins…
