Happy Needless Turkey Murder Day!

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

If this post looks familiar, it’s because I wrote it last year. But Thanksgiving episodes of “Friends” are classic. Enjoy.

Thanksgiving is just a few days away. And this time of year always puts me in the mood to watch reruns of my Favorite TV Show Ever: “Friends,” which was famous for its distinctive and memorable Thanksgiving episodes.

The Easter Bunny hates you (but we don’t)

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Lots of kids are scared of Santa Claus, but they ought to be way more afraid of the Easter Bunny. It’s a giant rabbit — what’s not scary about that?!

This post isn’t a viral video. It isn’t even a video. But it is interesting.

Alert Viral Videos reader Aaron Cohen passed along some information and a link that you may enjoy.

I saw your Peeps post and thought you’d like this. I just posted a story called “Marshmallow Peeps on the Internet - A Study.” I went around the Web, found all the Peeps sites worth visiting and put them in one place. Over 150 of them! Marshmallow Peeps are the “bacon of the ’90s,” in

Marshmallow Peep defeated by microwave

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

This video fills my brain with so many thoughts:

  • OMG — I have three unopened packages of Peeps in the cabinet from last year!
  • How many Peeps would it take to fill a microwave with melted goo?
  • I wonder how Rice Krispies treats would be with Peeps instead of regular marshmallows.

Sounds like my weekend is full.

Now enjoy this:

Watch out for the bunnies

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

It’s not polite to eat chocolate rabbits in front of real-live bunnies. They’re protective.

Mountain lacks Christmas enthusiasm

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

From “The Soup” Blog:

Christmas has come and gone, but thanks to the magic of video, we can relive the warmth and happiness literally days into the future. Which brings us to Henrietta and Myrna and their scintillating take on “Go Tell It on the Mountain.” We may be going out on a limb here, but never has less enthusiasm been mustered in the name of Jesus.

Sure, the performance is lackluster, but what about that fancy cinematography?

Eartha Kitt dies at 81

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The Associated Press reports:

A family friend says Eartha Kitt, a sultry singer, dancer and actress who rose from South Carolina cotton fields to become an international symbol of elegance and sensuality, has died. She was 81. Andrew Freedman says Kitt died Thursday of colon cancer and was recently treated at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Kitt, a self-proclaimed “sex kitten” famous for her catlike purr, was one of America’s most versatile performers, winning two Emmys and getting a third nomination. She also was nominated for two Tony Awards and a Grammy.

Peanuts characters use their powers for good, evil

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

You know that scene in “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” where the kids wave their arms around in front of Charlie Brown’s sad little sapling, and it magically becomes a fabulous Christmas tree?

Well, just imagine the possibilities for all that arm waving …

It’s Christmas in the Playhouse! A blast from the past

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

One of our favorite TV shows as a kid was “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse.” And we remember it was a really big deal when Pee-Wee got a primetime Christmas special in 1986.

There were all sorts of special guests: Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah, Annette Funicello, Frankie Avalon, Grace Jones, k.d. lang, Dinah Shore, Little Richard, Cher, the Del Rubio Triplets, Magic Johnson, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Joan Rivers and Charo. And let’s not forget the other actors who were “Playhouse” regulars: S. Epatha Merkerson, Laurence Fischburne and Phil Hartman.
