‘Web Site Story’: a modern tale of romance

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

To paraphrase my colleague Judy Newmark: They can make a musical about anything. And they usually do.

I love this parody of “West Side Story,” which tells the tale of courtship in the age of the Interwebs. From the brains at College Humor, here’s “Web Site Story.”

(Take this opportunity to turn off your cell phones and to unwrap your candies. And the taking of photographs is strictly prohibited by Actors’ Equity.)

Thanks to my colleague Erica Smith for sharing this.

‘Grease,’ performed by Legos

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

This is almost as good as the Sims interpretation of “Omigod You Guys” from “Legally Blonde.”

‘Do Re Mi’ in Central Station Antwerp in Belgium

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

From YouTube:

More than 200 dancers were performing their version of “Do Re Mi” in the Central Station of Antwerp. with just two rehearsals, they created this amazing stunt! … It is a promotion stunt for a Belgian television program, where they are looking for someone to play the leading role in the musical of “The Sound of Music.”

Karate-chop your way to self-esteem

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Honestly, I’m not sure what this is, but it sure is weird.

On the surface, it looks like an instructional karate video for children.

But it possibly is a failed musical that never quite made it to Broadway. Or Off Broadway. Or anywhere near Broadway.

Angsty teens sing about life and relationships

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Have you ever been in an undesirable situation where you wished you could freeze time, pull a microphone out of your jacket and sing about life’s injustices at the top of your lungs?

The kids in “Spring Awakening” hear you.

‘Omigod You Guys’ performed by Sims

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

We saw “Legally Blonde: The Musical” on Tuesday at the Fox. And “Omigod You Guys” has been playing nonstop in our head.

Look what someone made Sims characters do!

And, if you prefer, the real thing:

Theater icons collaborate to save Broadway

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Neil Patrick Harris’ appearance on “Saturday Night Live” last week was full of gems. We’re just getting around to watching and posting this one, which got rave reviews.

NPH is a dead ringer for Anthony Rapp as Mark. “Rent” tour, perhaps?

‘Prop 8: The Musical’

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Who loves musicals? We sure do!

This one in response to Proposition 8 — starring such celebs as Andy Richter, Maya Rudolph, John C. Reilly, Allison Janney, Sarah Chalke, Jack Black and Neil Patrick Harris — is entertaining and has a message about hate and the recent passage of the anti-gay-marriage amendment in California.

Unfortunately, our blogging platform dislikes embedding videos from FunnyOrDie, and all copies of this video that make it to YouTube are removed about as fast as they appear. So, you’ll have to link here to watch it.

Also, enjoy this commentary from “The Rachel Maddow Show”:
