Balloon Boy story grows weirder and weirder

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The flying saucer allegedly containing a 6-year-old Colorado boy captivated TV viewers nationwide yesterday. Now we know the boy was hiding in the attic the whole time.

The family appeared on “Today” this morning, and Meredith Vieira grilled the boy’s father about the situation and whether it was a hoax.

Oh, and the boy vomited. Right there on the “Today” show.

Watch the video from NBC here.

Jenny Slate’s ‘SNL’ F-bomb

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

“Saturday Night Live” kicked off its 35th season with Megan Fox as host — and the F-word.

From Tom Shales of The Washington Post:

Jenny Slate, one of two actors hired over the summer to join the repertory cast, was making her “SNL” debut in the sketch, called “Biker Chick Chat,” which aired in the last 20 minutes of the season premiere. Slate and Kristen Wiig played surly motorcycle babes who used the substitute words “frickin’ ” or “friggin’ ” in every sentence they spoke.

But when, at about 12:43 a.m., Slate was supposed to say to Wiig, “You stood up for yourself, and

Shatner’s dramatic reading of Palin’s farewell speech

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Priceline Negotiator William Shatner made an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” Monday night to lend his voice to a re-reading of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s farewell address.

Let’s listen.

The appearance was much discussed in the (Nerd Alert!) blogosphere and Twitterverse, and O’Brien brought Shatner back Wednesday night. To read Palin’s tweets.

Wedding party re-creates ‘Forever’ dance on ‘Today’

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

NBC’s “Today” show staged a re-creation of the dancing-wedding-party viral sensation this morning. I’m not quite sure why — the video was fun because it was so spontaneous and unexpected, but whatever.

Take a look:

If you can’t see the video embedded above, it’s on NBC’s site here.

This is the best wedding processional ever

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Lots of people’s wedding mishaps and hijinks end up on the Interwebs or on “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”

But when Twin Cities couple Kevin Heinz and Jill Peterson got married on June 20, they didn’t expect video of their wedding party’s unconventional boogie down the aisle to attract more than 1.6 million viewers on YouTube.

From the Minneapolis StarTribune:

“I danced growing up and was a dancer through college and loved dance as a way to express yourself and share joy. So, it was something I always thought about doing” [Peterson said].

Among the highlights was Heinz’s somersault entrance, which thrilled the guests, who

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

I stayed up for a bit to catch Jimmy Fallon’s inaugural “Late Night.” Boy, did he look nervous.

Read my colleague Gail Pennington’s critique of Fallon’s debut, and add your comments in Tube Talk.

Neil Patrick Harris and the ‘Doogie Howser’ Orchestra

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

NBC hasn’t put this segment from Saturday’s “SNL” online, so we recommend you watch it before they inevitably have it pulled from YouTube.
