Miss the Tonys? Catch up here.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

If you missed the 63rd Tony Awards last night, you missed quite a production.

The opening number (marred by some mic issues, which persisted throughout the evening) was the ceremony’s biggest and most expensive ever, said host Neil Patrick Harris. “And that’s why I’m hosting tonight.”

Bret Michaels was nearly crushed by a giant, flying set piece. A Tony spokesperson says he “missed his mark.”

And NPH killed with his brilliant closing number, which was a wrap-up of the winners and required some quick video editing.

Playbill News reports:

Stage and screen star Neil Patrick Harris will host the 63rd Annual Tony Awards, which will be held June 7 at Radio City Music Hall. CBS will broadcast the three-hour event live beginning at 7 p.m.

In a statement Harris said, “The discipline of live theatre - doing the same perfect thing night after night, eight times a week - never ceases to amaze me. I’m truly honored to have been chosen as the Master of Ceremonies for this year’s Tony Awards, and I hope to help provide a first-class evening for all.”

Neil Patrick Harris’ appearance on “Saturday Night Live” last week was full of gems. We’re just getting around to watching and posting this one, which got rave reviews.

NPH is a dead ringer for Anthony Rapp as Mark. “Rent” tour, perhaps?

NBC hasn’t put this segment from Saturday’s “SNL” online, so we recommend you watch it before they inevitably have it pulled from YouTube.

‘Prop 8: The Musical’

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Who loves musicals? We sure do!

This one in response to Proposition 8 — starring such celebs as Andy Richter, Maya Rudolph, John C. Reilly, Allison Janney, Sarah Chalke, Jack Black and Neil Patrick Harris — is entertaining and has a message about hate and the recent passage of the anti-gay-marriage amendment in California.

Unfortunately, our blogging platform dislikes embedding videos from FunnyOrDie, and all copies of this video that make it to YouTube are removed about as fast as they appear. So, you’ll have to link here to watch it.
