All the cool kids watch ‘Mad Men’ — literally

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Things like this make me proud to have grown up on “Sesame Street”: a “Mad Men” parody.

From E! News (via CeleBitchy.com):

With all the smoking, drinking, sex and lies on Mad Men, you’d think it wouldn’t exactly be kid-friendly. To a tiny extent, you’d think wrong.

The Emmy-winning AMC show is getting the Sesame Street treatment on fictional network EMC (E is for emotional). That’s right, Jon Hamm’s Don Draper dons a felt suit.

The mysterious ad hero is hard at work coming up with a campaign for the Happy Honeybear account. He’s working with two “sycophants,” but we’re not quite sure which one

‘Sesame Street’ classic: Milk makes everything better

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

I haven’t actually watched this video from “Sesame Street” on TV in almost 20 years. But every time I buy milk, pour milk or talk about milk, I can’t resist singing: “Milk! Mi-ilk! Milk!”

Those are pretty much the only lyrics — until the last few seconds of the song, and they really break it down by adding, “… makes everything seem bright.”

‘I’m a Little Airplane’ and ‘Furry Happy Monsters’

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Continuing with our “Sesame Street” theme, here’s a reader submission: “I’m a Little Airplane” by Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers — featuring the Muppets.

For some reason, the song “Shiny Happy People” became a topic of conversation over the weekend. “Whatever happend to R.E.M.?” we wondered.

More classic ‘Sesame Street’: Don’t walk

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

It’s been more than 20 years since we’ve seen this, but we still know the words. Actually, that’s true for most classic “Sesame Street” songs. God bless PBS.

We don’t blame this guy — violating a “don’t walk” sign is probably a pretty big offense on Sesame Street. There possibly would be a citizen’s arrest.

We feel like this Muppet a lot of time time: Things downtown — and in St. Louis in general — are hard to get to because all the streets are one way.
