The Associated Press reports:
Simon Cowell is a busy guy. When he’s not crushing spirits (I keed, I keed) on “American Idol,” he’s judging/producing “Britain’s Got Talent” across the pond.
Watch his reaction to 47-year-old Susan Boyle, a contestant who says her dream is to be a singer as good as Elaine Paige.
I guarantee this clip will put a smile on your face. Boyle sings “I Dreamed a Dream” from “Les Miserables.”

Dame Shirley is ready to party, y’all.
OK, I’ll admit: I had no idea Charo (full name: María Rosario Pilar Martínez Molina Moquiere de les Esperades Santa Ana Romanguera y de la Najosa Rasten) once was a huge sensation in America. My only exposure to her has been on YouTube and on Jerry Lewis’ annual telethon.
Here, she sings “Love Will Keep Us Together” in a 1976 TV special.
This song made me really hungry because it’s, essentially, a guy naming breakfast foods. And I’m not sure why the lady is with him. Every so often, you hear her make an off-key sound. But mostly she just sways.
From the YouTube description of this video:
This song aired on The Mornin’ Show, a local program carried by NBC affiliate WTVA in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Is there anything weirder than children passionately singing with Britney Spears?
Or Fergie?
Poor Ryan Seacrest. As hard as he tries, he still comes off as Mr. Roboto. PopCrunch reports:
In case you missed it, E!’s “The Soup” has snagged a clip of the “Smallest Man In Showbusiness” making the giant boo-boo of trying to a high-five legally blind contestant on last night’s season premiere of “American Idol.”
Yes, people. Ryan Seacrest tried high-fiving visually impaired musician Scott MacIntyre, who secured a Golden Ticket after wowing the judges during last summer’s “Idol” auditions in Phoenix.
The Associated Press reports:
A family friend says Eartha Kitt, a sultry singer, dancer and actress who rose from South Carolina cotton fields to become an international symbol of elegance and sensuality, has died. She was 81. Andrew Freedman says Kitt died Thursday of colon cancer and was recently treated at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Kitt, a self-proclaimed “sex kitten” famous for her catlike purr, was one of America’s most versatile performers, winning two Emmys and getting a third nomination. She also was nominated for two Tony Awards and a Grammy.

Just in case you missed it yesterday — E! News reports:
A woman described as being obsessed with Paula Abdul has been found dead after apparently killing herself in a car parked outside the “American Idol” judge’s hillside home. …
The county coroner has identified the victim as 30-year-old Paula Goodspeed, a fifth-season “Idol” auditioner with a long fixation on the “Forever Your Girl” singer.
