‘Sesame Street’ classic: Milk makes everything better

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

I haven’t actually watched this video from “Sesame Street” on TV in almost 20 years. But every time I buy milk, pour milk or talk about milk, I can’t resist singing: “Milk! Mi-ilk! Milk!”

Those are pretty much the only lyrics — until the last few seconds of the song, and they really break it down by adding, “… makes everything seem bright.”

No mo’ bacon? Say it ain’t so!

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

This song made me really hungry because it’s, essentially, a guy naming breakfast foods. And I’m not sure why the lady is with him. Every so often, you hear her make an off-key sound. But mostly she just sways.

From the YouTube description of this video:

This song aired on The Mornin’ Show, a local program carried by NBC affiliate WTVA in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Good luck getting this awful song out of your head!

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

I had all but forgotten about this awful, awful show from my childhood. Until one fateful day last week when something triggered a memory, and it all came crashing back to me.

Here, now, are the closing titles from Nickelodeon’s “Sharon, Lois & Bram’s Elephant Show,” circa 1986.

Still know the words to Barenaked Ladies’ ‘One Week’?

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

“One Week” by the Barenaked Ladies spent a week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1998.

And while we couldn’t even begin to tell you anything we had learned in our high-school math or science classes that same year, we could totally recite the lyrics to “One Week” right now.

Here’s the real song, performed by BNL’s Ed Robertson and Steven Page:

‘The 12 Daze of Christmas’

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Here’s one of our favorite Christmas parodies: Fay McKay’s famous “12 Daze of Christmas” — with helpful illustrations.

Here’s veteran Vegas performer McKay singing it live:

‘I Tweet Myself’ music video!

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Hey, fellow Tweeps. We all know people like this — the ones who must Twitter every inane detail of their day.

“Having a latte.” Who cares?

“Good morning, Twitter!” Really?

“Watching TV.” *Yawn*

BTW, STLtoday recently added a cool page, where you can see all Post-Dispatch Twittering. And, of course, be sure to follow @GoSTL for the latest headlines, updates and some fun things all day long.
