During “Luck Be a Lady” at Stages St. Louis’ fine production of “Guys and Dolls” Wednesday night, I giggled to myself thinking of this:
To paraphrase my colleague Judy Newmark: They can make a musical about anything. And they usually do.
I love this parody of “West Side Story,” which tells the tale of courtship in the age of the Interwebs. From the brains at College Humor, here’s “Web Site Story.”

Thanks to my colleague Erica Smith for sharing this.
If you missed the 63rd Tony Awards last night, you missed quite a production.
The opening number (marred by some mic issues, which persisted throughout the evening) was the ceremony’s biggest and most expensive ever, said host Neil Patrick Harris. “And that’s why I’m hosting tonight.”
Bret Michaels was nearly crushed by a giant, flying set piece. A Tony spokesperson says he “missed his mark.”
And NPH killed with his brilliant closing number, which was a wrap-up of the winners and required some quick video editing.

Telly Leung from the touring cast of “Rent” gives a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to be an understudy. His usual role in the show is Steve (and others), but he also understudies Angel.
Here, at this tour stop in New Jersey in February, he takes the stage as Angel.
“Rent” plays at the Fox Theatre through Sunday. Read my review of the show and my interview with Adam Pascal, who plays Roger.
Playbill News reports:
Stage and screen star Neil Patrick Harris will host the 63rd Annual Tony Awards, which will be held June 7 at Radio City Music Hall. CBS will broadcast the three-hour event live beginning at 7 p.m.
In a statement Harris said, “The discipline of live theatre - doing the same perfect thing night after night, eight times a week - never ceases to amaze me. I’m truly honored to have been chosen as the Master of Ceremonies for this year’s Tony Awards, and I hope to help provide a first-class evening for all.”
Thursday is the Bard’s 445th birthday. And if he were here, he almost certainly would not approve of this JibJab interpretation of “Romeo and Juliet” in the style of LOLCATS.
From our friends at the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, here’s a look at their current production of “The Miracle Worker,” onstage at the Loretto-Hilton Center in Webster Groves through March 8.
We saw “Legally Blonde: The Musical” on Tuesday at the Fox. And “Omigod You Guys” has been playing nonstop in our head.
Look what someone made Sims characters do!
And, if you prefer, the real thing:
Neil Patrick Harris’ appearance on “Saturday Night Live” last week was full of gems. We’re just getting around to watching and posting this one, which got rave reviews.
NPH is a dead ringer for Anthony Rapp as Mark. “Rent” tour, perhaps?
We saw The Rep’s production of “Saint Joan” on Friday at the Loretto-Hilton Center in Webster Groves. It’s a wonderful show — a bit longer than most, but you’ll be engaged.
