The fun theory

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

A website in Sweden has posted two videos for Volkswagen onto YouTube in an attempt to show the easiest ways to change people’s behavior by making it fun to do.

They are attempting to prove that people will take a different path or alter their daily routines if that different path is fun.

DDB Stockholm recently launched Rolighetsterorin, or “The Fun Theory” campaign, an initiative to get people to change their lazy behaviors—and ultimately, how they feel about driving environmentally friendly cars—by allowing them to see the fun side of acting responsibly.

In this first video, the agency claims that 66 percent more people

CNN teases President Obama’s Mom Jeans

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

When President Obama threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the All-Star Game in St. Louis on Tuesday, most people’s eyes were on the ball. But a few people had their eyes on his jeans.

A friend of mine actually remarked on Wednesday, “The game was really cool, but what was with the president and those Mom Jeans?”

Perhaps the stylin’ first lady can give him some fashion pointers.

Burger King likes square butts and he cannot lie

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The latest commercial for Burger King (featuring the oh-so-creepy Burger King) is absolutely terrifying. I saw it on TV at least three times in an hour last night, and every time I couldn’t bring myself to look away.

It’s possibly more creepy than the Old Navy Supermodelquin commercials (who, by the way, have their own YouTube channel).

You’re Jessica Simpson, right?

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

In “I Get That A Lot” on CBS, ordinary people tell celebrities that they look like celebrities. I haven’t seen it yet, but people say it’s actually quite funny. Judging by the clips on YouTube, I may have to give it a try.

Here, Jessica Simpson troubleshoots computer problems, and customers tell her she looks like Jessica Simpson. (She gets that a lot.)

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

I’m not quite sure how this YouTube phenomenon managed to slip past my radar.

Keenan as Cascada:

Keenan as the Pussycat Dolls:

Keenan as Hannah Montana:

Keenan taking his show on the “WGN Morning News” — with significantly cleaned-up moves:

It’s Christmas in the Playhouse! A blast from the past

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

One of our favorite TV shows as a kid was “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse.” And we remember it was a really big deal when Pee-Wee got a primetime Christmas special in 1986.

There were all sorts of special guests: Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah, Annette Funicello, Frankie Avalon, Grace Jones, k.d. lang, Dinah Shore, Little Richard, Cher, the Del Rubio Triplets, Magic Johnson, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Joan Rivers and Charo. And let’s not forget the other actors who were “Playhouse” regulars: S. Epatha Merkerson, Laurence Fischburne and Phil Hartman.

YouTube is attempting an online first: auditioning and assembling an orchestra via the internet. All you have to do is download the provided sheet music, practice it, submit an audition video and wait. If you’re selected, you could perform with others at Carnegie Hall.

YouTube contest challenges users to make a ‘good’ video

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

ONN reports: “The only requirement for our winning video is that it be somewhat watchable or provide even a shred of enjoyment for people other than those who made the video,” said Martha Walfield, YouTube’s PR director.
