Everyone blogs about the weather; nobody does anything about it
Some highlights from what I saw across the STL blogosphere about today’s crappy weather:
“Thirteen Photos of Crazy St. Louis Weather Plus a Video” — From the blog, Musings of a Manic Mom.
“For everyone who’s inner ‘mom’ makes you run to the store when it snows to stock up on milk and bread, Local Harvest Grocery is making the most of it’s day old bread with a one-day sale on Friday February 22nd. According to their website: “Happy Snow Day, Everyone! To celebrate the day, we are inviting all of you in the neighborhood to come by and take advantage of some fresh baked treats and some great deals.”‘ — From the blog, Highway 61.
“I have to drive the fire truck in all this &%$# for the next 20 hours, maybe more if it gets super bad.” — From the forum Playa.info.
“One way to appease your tenants in this situation is to have some salt or ice melt and a snow shovel on site. This might not be an option for all properties, but if you have caring, attentive tenants, supplying these items will often allow the situation to take care of itself. If you have salt in the basement that the tenants are aware of, they will generally sprinkle it on the sidewalks for their own sake.” — From the blog, St. Louis Real Estate Investment & Development Blog.
“It is wicked scary out there and more to come! I was supposed to speak at Rohan Woods School as part of a Fine Arts Day. I was going to talk about film and show a couple of animated shorts, but that has been cancelled. That stinks, though, it would have been a lot of fun.” — From the blog, The Royal Decrees of Lord Willoughby Meriwether Spathington of Carondelet upon Saint Louis.
“We have another winter storm warning (with ice) and yes, already dozens of accidents (major) and over 4o minor ones. I made sure I made it to work early (was here before 6am) and drove at a reasonable speed…(hmmm does having patience as a virtue HELP??????) — From the blog, Life in these United States.

While I appreciate that anyone has gotten some use out of our cancelation list we’ve been updating all day long, I have some serious reservations about the title of the blog post. And while it would not fair to hold up your news organization from the ediorial standards which our contributers do not use, its a pretty insuing editorial framework you’re giving with a title. Seriously, what are we supposed to do about the weather? - the shoveling is done and the hot cocoa burns. We tried to make the most of the newfound time by keeping a list of closings and opportunities like the one quoted here for things we know our readers will want to know about. Should I have linked the STLToday’s school closing list? After all, most of our readers are in college.
