Fascinating how people love to hate Paris Hilton
I spend a few minutes of my weekend monitoring comments that were posted with the video STLtoday ran featuring Paris Hilton’s visit to South County. There were more than a dozen comments on the video — and then there were all the comments I deleted because they were completely inappropriate, personal attacks, or used foul language.
I’m always amazed that people who apparently disdain celebrities such as PH still take the time to watch and read — and comment. There’s examples around the blogosphere (local and beyond) as well.
“Thank God for technology — I’ll still be able to view one of the women I truly admire …. [can you hear the dripping of the sarcasm?]” — here on Hummers & Cigarettes.
“Paris Hilton came to St. Louis yesterday to promote her new perfume Can Can, which someone described as the smell of dead fish in a trash can. It’s about $150.”– More here on Bits & Pieces.
“Paris Hilton made an appearance at a mall in St. Louis, and prooves once again there is something seriously wrong with our society.” — Here on Entertainment Alerts.
Someone needs to explain that phenomenon to me.

The internet version of the car-wreck phenomenon? Or maybe the school lunch-room habit of clumping together to verbally tear down the new girl?
I’m not saying that anyone deserves to be trashed, but this particular celebrity — famous not so much for her family connections or anything she’s created as much as for just being very, very public — has made a habit of inappropriate behavior (for anyone, celebrity or not) which makes her a very easy target.
