Blogfest begins over Mark Mulder’s aborted return to mound
The bloggers are pouncing on Mark Mulder’s perhaps career-ending return to the mound on Wednesday night against the Phillies, when he managed one out, a strikeout, followed by two walks. Gone in the first inning.
Some comments are snarky, some sensitive, some analytical. But lots of the virtual world is taking note.
Via Twitter…
Bogeze: Mulder is Roached - Tony is Ragging - The Cardinals are Standing Pat and the Ownership is being Typically Cheap - Go Cardinals…
EricSwann: St Louis Cardinals Fan Note of the day: Cubs get Harden, Brewers get Sabathia, Cards get Mulder back, FOR ONE THIRD OF AN INNING!?!?!
TotalHavoc: Cardinals just need to refuse to pay Mulder
Stephy304: Mulder made it 16 pitches…..oh so sad
amyalcin: Mulder is out of the game ALREADY?! Crap, this won’t be good.
There were these more sensitive statements:
prologue: sending virtual hugs to mark mulder
xxxxxxx: all joking aside, i really do feel bad for mulder :\
Some of the blog comments early today:
“It seems to me the Cardinals rushed Mulder back a bit. I wonder if this means the Cardinals are more likely to trade for someone like A.J. Burnett.” — Baseball Musings.
“Unfortunately, Mulder’s fantasy value may never return to the top echelon again.” — Fantasy Fanatics.
“Mark Mulder made a triumphant return from a shoulder injury yesterday against the Phillies. He threw 16 pitches in the first inning, recorded an out… and then promptly left the game with an apparent shoulder injury.” — Lefty Noob on GoTeamsGo.
“Truly depressing stuff - I’m sure of the worst, but have faint hope for the best.” — Late Innings.
Here’s a link to Google’s Blog Search on Mulder (trying to filter out references to The X-Files!).
