A Florida magazine-subscription seller will pay $75,000 to settle a suit alleging it violated Missouri telemarketing laws, the office of Attorney General Chris Koster announced today.

Between October 2008 and last August, the company -- Active Periodicals Inc., of Deerfield Beach, Fla. -- allegedly called Missourians who had listed their home numbers on the state's no-call list.

The settlement between Koster's office and Active Periodicals stipulates that, if the company calls no-call numbers again, it must pay an additional $5,000 per violation.

"Missouri's No-Call law is clear, and businesses are understanding that we will stop them if they ignore the law," Koster said in a prepared statement.
