Boeing is raising health insurance costs for its non-union employees across the nation, the company confirmed today.
Spokeswoman Karen Forte said the firm will raise deductibles and impose a co-insurance requirement, although premiums will stay the same.
The aerospace giant pays more than $2 billion in employee health costs, she said, and has seen costs rise 7 percent to 8 percent annually for several years.
The company will raise its deductible from $200 per person to $300 per person. Forte said the company last raised deductibles in 1999.
Boeing previously paid 100 percent of costs after the deductible is met. The change will mean that employees pay 10 percent of the costs in 2011 and 20 percent in 2012.
Boeing has about 15,000 employees in the St. Louis area. Managers were informed of the change on Friday.
