Centene boosts earnings in fourth quarter

Increased revenues from new operations in Mississippi, Illinois and Kentucky helped Centene Corp. raise profits in the fourth quarter. The Clayton-based manager of health care services reported a net income of $30.1 million, or 57 cents a share, compared to $25.4 million, or 50 cents a share, a year ago. Sales rose 28 percent to $1.5 billion.
