William R: I was planning a vacation in the carribean in the fall. Theres a price I was quoted for 7 days for 900 dollars which seemed reasonable to me, but my travel mates insist that if we wait till the week or two before the trip to book it we can get a better last minute deal from the travel agency. Do you think this is a wise decision?
Tom Uhlenbrock: Hi William. In a word, no, I wouldn't wait. Your friends are correct that as a cruise date nears, prices may fall if the ship has rooms left. But, you also could miss out on the dates entirely, if the ships fills. If you book now, you get the ship, and the itinerary you want. Folks who wait until the last minute, shopping for bargains, must be extremely flexible in the timetable, and not too picky about where they want to sail. Caribbean cruises for the past several years have been priced at a little more than $100 a day. You are pretty close to that. My advice, book it now and avoid the worrying. Cheers, and happy sailing.
