terry: i am leaving next friday to go to the wisconsin dells. is there anything along the way that is a must see? we don't have much time, but i hate to travel all that distance and miss something that i would've liked to see.

thanks
Tom Uhlenbrock: Hi Terry. Well, yes, there's cool stuff all along the route. You'll be taking Interstate 55 through Springfield, and the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum there is first class. (They're getting ready for Abe's 200th birthday.) Then you'll catch Interstate 39 at Normal, and go by Starved Rock State Park near Ottawa. That's a really cool place for short hikes, which lead back to box canyons with waterfalls. Beautiful, expecially when the falls are frozen into ice sculptures. You won't get near Chicago (the highway construction there is a nightmare on 94) but if you have an extra night, it would be well worth a visit. Tons of museums and Millennium Park is terrific, and free. Even has an ice-skating rink. It all depends on how much time you've got. Have fun. TU
