lahtij: Why doesn't MODOT light up the freeways in the county or surrounding counties where the traffic is heavy? Most major metro areas I have gone to have lights down the middle of the freeways.
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: Missouri does not have continuous lighting on our interstates. The headlights on your car are designed to light the road in front of you. We light the interchanges where you need to make a decision about getting on or off the highway. We also do not want to add to light pollution in residential areas unnecessarily. In commercial areas along interstates, the commercial development lighting provides extra lighting for the area. In the City of St. Louis, the city pays for continuous lighting on the interstates. That is the only place where you will find it in Missouri.

Ryan: Can you all check whether the light at Clayton and Boland is functioning properly during the overnight hours? Between 6 and 7 AM, it's not uncommon for 3 or 4 cars to wait 2 to 3 minutes for the light to turn green on Boland, and the green is often too short for all cars to get through. It seems to be all right later in the commute and during the day, but people with an early commute are having trouble.
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: This is a County signal. I will ask them to check it.

Linda Wilson

Craig: Any updates regarding when the McCutcheon Road overpass will re-open? The last I heard was sometime in January. This should help to alleviate some traffic from Brentwood Blvd and McKnight (which is routinely backed up from 40 to Litzsinger Road). Thanks!
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: Crews are working on McCutcheon this week to finish the concrete work. It should be open sometime next week.

Linda Wilson

Gene Abbey: Will east bound access to Litzinger from Lindbergh remain open after the completion of the I-64 construction project? If not who makes this decision and isn't this a publicly funded road?

Thanks.
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: This will be discussed with Ladue at the completion of I-64. We do not have a decision right now.

Linda Wilson

Michael Reiser: Currently, Big Bend Blvd seems to "bend" west when crossing over Hwy 40, then goes back east after the crossing. When the new bridge is built, will the section of Big Bend from Dale to Wise be straighter. (Promise, no pun intended)
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: Looking at the plans, that are available on the web at www.thenewi64.org, it appears Big Bend is being built right on top of where it is today. The bridge will be wider, but the connection point on the north and south side of the highway is where it is today. We didn't buy any new property to change the location of Big Bend.
