Dan Galvin of Gateway Constructors and Linda Wilson of MoDOT will field questions about Highway 40 reconstruction for an hour each Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Jordan: Thanks for your communication!
When the first half shut down, Googlemaps recognized the shut down portion of the highway and would route you around it. However, it has not yet done this for the second half shutdown (It directs me to take 64/40 from 170 east to Hampton Ave, which is obviously not available).
Is there any plan to get this updated with google? Thanks,
Jordan
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: We have provided all of the information to the major traffic resources such as Traffic.com and Navteq. These services provide most of the mapping and GPS traffic information. It is up to Google to actually apply it to their system.

Chris Matthews: Will anything be done to improve the lighting at the exit from Westbound 64/40 to Lindbergh? At present it appears poorly defined at night, and the crash barrier shows signs of impact damage. There is a light at the far end of the ramp which may actually cause the exit to look darker and worse-defined.
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: Yours is the first complaint we received about lighting at Lindbergh. Everything is plugged in and turned on that we planned to have there. We'll have a look at it though and make sure everything is according to plan.
Dan
T-Sor: Does MODOT have any plans to lengthen the right turn lane on Woodlawn (Southbound) at Manchester? Right now it only allows for stacking of two cars going straight after which the turn lane becomes inaccessible. Since the 64/40 shutdown Woodlawn has become more popular and really backs up in the AM and at 5PM. A longer right turn lane would really help. If there are no plans, please add it to the list of those shovel ready projects.
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: I will ask our West County engineer to look into this. Woodlawn is not a state road so I'm not sure we would make any changes. The biggest obstacle to widening at any situation is what space do you have to work with and how expensive is it to buy any land you might need. Many times it's not as easy as you would think. I will get your request to the engineers to look into and check with whatever other agencies might be involved.

gusmcrae1: How are Claytonia and Laclede Station coming along? Will they both be closed the full 90 days or possibly open earlier?
Thanks
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: We're on schedule at both locations. It's possible that we won't have them closed the full 90 days but right now it's too soon to tell. We may also open them up for awhile to work on the structures and then close them again to do more work, such as repave the street under the bridge.
Dan
Name Unknown: Why not open up the eastbound ramp from I-44 to Watson Rd again? The traffic on that stretch of ramp is not high and the closure presents a major inconvenience for those in the area. With the western I-64 section open, I do not think the reason for closing the exit is valid any longer.
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: I-44 remains a major alternate route for I-64. There are still many people who need to use I-44 to get to downtown because they cannot use I-64. We are reviewing what to do with this interchange at the completion of the I-64 project at the end of 2009. No decisions have been made yet.
