Ted: The exit off of South 170 to S Brentwood Blvd is always backed up. This is becasue there is a stop sign at the bottom of the ramp, and with 40/64 closed there is more volume of cars going to the galleria mall. In recent weeks, to make matters worse, Clayton Police have parked at the bottom of that ramp to enforse the stop sign - and so people are stopping for longer than they have to.
Why can't they change that from a stop sign to a yield sign? S Brentwood is only busy at evening rush, The other 90% of the time it is very lightly travelled.
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: The section of Brentwood Blvd north of Clayton Road is owned and operated by the City of Clayton. Therefore they do control how this operates. MoDOT does work closely with the City and we have talked about what could be done to improve this exit from I-170. The ramp does need a stop sign and not a yield due to a lot of engineering reasons including sight distance and not really have any room to yield. You do have to stop and wait to see if you have the room to pull out into the three lanes of Clayton Road. The exit ramp is busy most of the day but it is terribly backed up during rush hour. Clayton Road is also busy and the city can't close one lane to allow for a free yielding movement off the ramp. Another option for accessing this area would be to take I-170 to the Eager access and make two right turns to get on Brentwood. Or you could exit I-170 at Forest Park Parkway and then immediately exit to Brentwood Blvd.

Bill: I have a question about the bridge girders. I see that they are straight when they unload them, but how do they get them to curve to conform to the way the piers are set up?
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: The steel girders actually are slightly curved. Several pieces are spliced together to make the long curves that you see on the flyover ramps at I-170.

Jz: When will girders be set over Brentwood for the south to west ramp from 170 to 64. Also, when will pavement laying start on the western half. Also, what is currently going on at Kingshighway. Finally, will more pictures be posted on the website. I haven't seen any of Lindbergh since before the girders were set and would like to see what is going on there now.
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: The girders for the southbound I-170 to westbound I-64 ramp are being set now, with the pieces over Brentwood being set sometime in June. Pavement operations on the western half of the project should begin in the next month. The bridge deck over I-64 has been poured. The approaches to the bridge, backfilling and the new ramps to and from the east will be built over the next few months. New pictures of Lindbergh should be posted in the Photo Gallery on the I-64 website later this week.

Annie: What is your suggestion for those who get gas at the Shell station at Hanley and Dale that then need to get to Eager? One cannot turn right from Dale into the left turn lane of Hanley anymore thanks to the poles from the majority of drivers who feel they are above traffic laws. Making a right turn onto Hanley across all northbound lanes is impossible at all times of day other than 3am it seems. By the time I can find a place where I can turn around that isn't blocked by traffic (which is usually a side street north of Clayton), and get back to the Hanley and Eager intersection, I've wasted at least 15 minutes as well as gas. Taking Hanley to Clayton to Brentwood to Eager takes even longer. Please try and do something about the traffic flow in this area. The price of gas is not the only reason I dread needing to fill up.
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: The roads you are concerned about are not MoDOT's. They are the county's or city's. The Hanley, Eager and Dale are is extremely congested and the County has been working very hard to make changes to help traffic flow. I'm not sure I have a good suggestion for you. It's also difficult knowing what your final destination is. You may want to try to go south on Hanley and use the new Brentwood city street of Strassner. It connects over to Brentwood Blvd and then you could take Brentwood to Eager.

chris: When will paving of the new southbound I-170 exit to Eager be done? Also, will access to northbound I-170 from Eager be restored after this paving is completed or will it be contingent upon finishing the bridge abutements for the 3 bridges over I-170 too?
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: The opening of the access from Eager to northbound I-170 is contingent upon both the paving of the new southbound I-170 to Eager exit and the work on the I-64 bridge over the Eager exit. It should be finished later this fall.
