Dan Galvin of Gateway Constructors and Linda Wilson of MoDOT will field questions about Highway 40 reconstruction.

Mark Reinsch: Other than Forest Park Parkway, what will be the main detour routes for the city once the second section closes next year?
Will Kingshighway be the eastern end of the construction? Will westbound drivers be able to utilize that interchange?
Thanks for the updates!
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: We would recommend that drivers use I-70 and I-44 as much as possible to go east and west in 2009. Forest Park Parkway and other east/west routes like Delmar, MLK and Manchester will still be usable of course but will have more stop signs and traffic signals to get through. The fastest, most direct way to get from downtown past the closure area will be on the interstates. Kingshighway will be the east end of the closure and will be usable for westbound traffic to exit and eastbound traffic to enter the highway.

JZ: Is the project still on schedule or has it been pushed back due to all the rain we have had. Also, when will the final girders be set at Clayton-Warson and also the girders for the three bridges over 170. Finally, when will the deck be poured for the east to north ramp from 64 to 170.
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: We're still on schedule. The last girders over Clayton are scheduled for next Monday, while the girders over I-170 are scheduled for the end of the month. The east to north flyover deck is scheduled to be poured in about two weeks.

Don Imus: When will the right turning lane from south bound Lindberg to Clayton road be re-opened?
It is causing a nightmare back-up everynight and it doesn't look like it has been touched in over a month.
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: We shifted traffic on Lindbergh about two weeks ago in order to pave curbs, gutters and sidewalks and to relocate the Schnucks parking lot entrance. That's going on right now and should be completed in September. The median barrier will be poured sometime in October.

Jesse: How is the traffic light at Eager and the 170 off ramp to Eager controlled? It seems that more often than not, Eager traffic is sitting at a red light for ghost traffic coming off of 170. And at night, when traffic is lighter, why isn't this light on flash? For that matter, why aren't a lot of MODOT controlled roads on flash late at night?
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: I believe there is a motion detector for that signal that reacts when a car is detected at the intersection. I'll ask our traffic control engineer to have a look at it to make sure it's functioning properly. I'll also ask if there is a reason why it can't be set on flash late at night. I would asume that it has to do with traffic volumes.
Dan
Greg: Would it be possible to post on the I-64 website updates on the progress of paving between 170 & Spoede? Something that could be updated every couple of days or weekly to show "x feet paved this week, y feet paved total, z feet to be paved total"?
It would be a good way to keep the public posted on the progress.
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: Another option would be to check the photo page more often. We have a lot going on out there right now and I'll be updating it more frequently. I should be posting a new set of photos later today that show work that was going on yesterday and this morning.
