Dan Galvin of Gateway Constructors and Linda Wilson of MoDOT will field questions about Highway 40 reconstruction.

GoodDriver: What type of work is being done at Hampton and 40? I see they're closing lanes this week. How long will this last?

Is Kingshighway getting close to completion?
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: What we are doing at Hampton is geotechnical boring to determine subsurface soil conditions. Apparently there are a number of coal seams in that area and we need to know where they are before we can start reconstruction of the new Hampton bridge. Remember that Hampton will close September 22nd until about Memorial Day in 2009.

Mark: I am curious what the easternmost access points will be for the completed western section of the highway beginning next year (hopefully).
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: When we finish the west half of the project in December you will be able to enter westbound I-64 from Brentwood Boulevard or take the south to west flyover ramp from I-170.

Dan

CJ: When will access from Eager to Northbound 170 be available?
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: Right now it looks like early to mid October. We will shift southbound I-170 to Eager traffic to exit along the right side of the road just south of Galleria Parkway and reopen northbound I-170 access from Eager at the same time.

Dan

Bill: When will the eastbound 64 to northbound 170 ramp be paved? I noticed that there is still rebar that needs to be put down on that ramp. Also, the new webcams are nice, it interesting to see the progress being made.
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: That ramp is scheduled to be paved the last week of July or the first week of August.

Dan

Monkaton: Before I-64 was closed west of I-170 there was a bend in I-64 east bound where the new I-170 ramp to east bound I-64 has been located. Will that bend in east bound i-64 remain? I fear that will cause a continuous slowdown as drivers negotiate the bend and the on coming traffic.
Dan Galvin and Linda Wilson: We are eliminating that bend by moving the highway centerline about 100 feet south between McCutcheon Road and Brentwood Boulevard. We're also filling a dip between Lindbergh Boulevard and the Clayton-Warson bridge and in 2009 lowering a hill between Hanley Road and I-170. So there will be a number of changes to I-64 that will help eliminate many of the reasons for back-ups in the past.
