Michael Kent: Jeff ...
Two Cards-related questions for you.
1) Should Troy Glaus' noticeble improvement in fielding percentage the last two years (almost equal to Scott Rolen during the same period) be attributed to Toronto's artificial surface, or do Cards fans have real reason to believe that the defensive dropoff at 3B won't be as big as some may think?
2) What's more likely to happen: Yadier Molina progressing into a legitimate No. 4, 5, or 6 hitter in the lineup, or Bryan Anderson becoming Molina's defensive equal behind the plate? (Can you see where I'm going with this?)
Thank you.
Jeff Gordon: Anderson will never have Molina's arm. He can get better defensively, but asking him to control the running game is too much. Glaus didn't get raves for his overall defensive prowess in Toronto, so we're reminded that improved fielding percentage doesn't reflect improved range.
mr. starks: Hey, do you think Chillar will be resigned, they will pursue a FA, or draft someone? If he doesn't come back, I heard Vilma isn't happy in New York...
Jeff Gordon: Chillar would be OK if the Rams go to the 3-4 and need more LBs. As for other free agents, again, expect the Rams be back at the end of the line for most of what's out there.
RamsDraftGuru63: If you had the final call on this years 1st round pick - and you only had two choices DE Chiris Long or DE Vernon Gholston - who would you pick and why?
Jeff Gordon: The people I trust rave about Long. But if the team moves down a few slots, the equation could change.
dan: care to comment on the $$ given to the Red Birds Catcher? Seems like he could have broke the bank if he had a great year hitting, but if he stays the same he makes more than he might have otherwise? Agree?
Jeff Gordon: Good assessment. He will never become a "plus" offensive player that commands huge dollars, but his value to this team is high. La Russa and Duncan can finish their careers here with a great catcher.
Tony: Hello J.G. Do you know If Chip has any idea on how unhappy we are w/Loseahan, or the horrible coaching and horrible personel decisions that were made for his team. And why is this H.C. hiring offensive assistants w/out any input from a not hired O.C. who is supposed to have complete control of the offense. I wish he would atleast put Kroneke in charge of making the team decisions until a true GM is hired. And do you know if Kroneke likes the present front offce. Thanks for your time.
Jeff Gordon: Kroenke can't be happy with the results. His role (or non-role) in the transformation will be interesting. Stan is a smart man, so Rams fans can only hope that Chip listens to him.
