Luke: Gordo:
Do you think that Pedro Martinez could be a good fit for the cards for one year on the cheap. He could fill in this year and give the kids one more year of seasoning(I previously liked this role for Randy Johnson but that didnt happen).
Jeff Gordon: I see Pedro as a more logical Cards addition than Manny.
Mike: There have been a few questions about being competitive in Pujols's prime. Has there been some indication that Pujols is unhappy with the direction of the Cardinals organization?
Jeff Gordon: Albert wants to win. If the Cards don't contend this year, he won't be happy at all.
Andy: Jeff,
With the Rams’ turnover in the front office and coaching staff, I was wondering why scouting is not included? Couldn’t it be possible that some of the Rams scouts have done a poor job and that has led to bad drafts, or am I completely off here? I don’t know the process.
Thanks,
Andy
Jeff Gordon: Actually, the scouts got overruled more than you would think. But the '08 draft was really good, so there is no need to shake up that staff too much,
Luke: Gordo:
Is there a scenerio where all 6 of our outfielders break camp on the opening day roster?
Jeff Gordon: If Mather can play third and Skip can back up at second, yes . . .
AJ: Do you agree with Mel Kiper's projection of the draft and that the Rams will take Andre Smith out of Alabama?
I think its time that the Rams take a legitimate skills player with their high draft pick. I think if Detroit passes on Stafford that they should pick him up. We need a QB that is more mobile in the pocket and his big arm could be ideal for hooking up with Avery down the field after they both mature for a year or two.
Jeff Gordon: I don't see a QB coming at the top of the draft, given all the dough invested in Bulger. Smith is an interesting guy, but some folks wonder if he can play tackle in the NFL. Maybe he is a guard instead.
