matt"mvp"stroehmer: Howdy,
i was wondering about the Cardinals rookie/prospect Kyle McClellan. How old is he and do you think it's realistic to think he can pitch his way into the rotation?
Jeff Gordon: He worked in relief last season while continuing his recovery from elbow surgery. But he has the pitch assortment to start -- and that may be his ticket to the bigs eventually. He reached Class AA Springfield last year and could move onto the front burner this spring.
mitch: Gordo, what is the buzz on Ankiel so far this spring?
Jeff Gordon: I want to stick him right to keep center field open for Rasmus - but Rick has played great defense so far.
Bob: Gordo: Any inside dope on the Cards possibly taking Jamie Garcia North as a 2-inning lefty out of the pen? Tyler Johnson's troubles seem to create an opening....Thanks!
Jeff Gordon: Garcia is more likely to start in the Springfield rotation and try to work his way up to Memphis. The Cards have plenty of depth for the LH relief role, even if Tyler Johnson goes down with shoulder problems.
Magni: Are the Rams going to address the QB position within the first three rounds of the draft? Bulger is not a spring chicken and has a knack for getting injured.
Jeff Gordon: I'd be surprised if they took a QB high, given the other needs. But Saunders does need to find a developmental guy.
Bill H.: I'm not sure I can ask this question without a lot of sarcasm. Why would a football team with so many problems scoring touchdowns on offense spend so much on a guy who spends much of his on-field time kicking extra points for those precious few touchdowns? Should not the Rams have used the cap room to shore up the barely functioning offensive line or a dependable backup QB? I'm sorry. That may have been two sarcastic questions.
Jeff Gordon: Great kickers can win games -- and save coaches. As for all the other needs, the Rams will address them through all means possible between now and the start of camp.
