donald s box: Hey jeff iv;e played this game of baseball before, and when i see some one doing something that should be crrected. I will say something to that individual to correct it. The cardinals have a hitting coarch and one of the best hitters in the game, and ankiel keep trying to pull every pitch he see. Do hitting coarches get involved, or do they wait for the player to come to them.
Jeff Gordon: McRae wants his guys to use all the fields. This point was made to Rasmus, apparently to his discomfort. Ankiel is still a bit raw, but he has so much in his power stroke. Pitchers keep working him carefully, which will force him to adapt or lose some playing time. He could also help himself by being a bit more selective and aware of what pitchers are doing to him.

This is all part of the cat and mouse game for young hitters. I assume he will see the value of driving the ball to all fields.

Tim: whats the word on Pete Kozma? how is he doing wherever he is? What is the earliest he could be in a Cards uniform?
Jeff Gordon: He really hit the skids in May hitting in Quad Cities, so that is a setback. He was fabulous in April. He is three or four years away, at least. Remember how long it took Duncan and Mather to get themselves ready to hit at this level.

Tim: Are the Blues going to sign Bishop and Bergland and try to get them a shot on the roster next season?
Jeff Gordon: Both are signed and both will be in camp. Bishop figures to play in Peoria next season to adjust to pro hockey. Berglund could spend some time in the AHL, too, as he adapts to North American play. But he should help the Blues on some level next season.

Tim: What other prospects might the Blues try to get on the roster next season?
Jeff Gordon: Oshie, obviously. Polak and Wagner should have bigger roles this year on defense after getting a look last season.

Tim: Just out of curiosity who is the fastest guy in the enitre cardinal system?
Jeff Gordon: Can't say, but OF Daryl Jones has good wheels. He is just staring to pull his game together, so we won't know if he has big league potential for another year or two.
