stloufan5: A couple of quick things, why do the cardinals name names on their targets? Why would they come out and say "we want X player"? Why has the names of DeRosa and Holliday been leaked to the public? Doesnt this run the cost of said player up?
Did you notice in Saturday's game after Pujols hit the second home run, he came into the dugout and sat down with Dave Duncan and showed him exactly what Chris Duncan was doing. It looked as if Pujols was mocking Chris Duncan's swing to a tee, and he was explaining to him what Chris needed to work on. Seems like that should have been a conversation to have with Chris or Hal?
Jeff Gordon: The media brings up the name. It's not Mozeliak is holding a news conference to list players he wants.
As for the dugout stuff, you're probably reading too much into that.
Linda: What happened to Mike Parisi?
Jeff Gordon: Got hurt.
adam_cruts: Jeff, I asked this last week but I think you were done answering questions prior to my question. I keep hearing (including this week) saying that the first people you would trade are the ones that are "waiting/complaining for trade help to come." I think that seems to be an unfair statement considering that Albert Pujols is probably the main culprit making statements that he will only stay if the team remains competitive. Are you stating that Albert should be the first one traded? Thanks.
Jeff Gordon: Not at all. Albert keeps competing. If there are playing shutting down while waiting for a deal or hoping to force a deal, THOSE players need to go ASAP. Those are the players that derail a franchise.
adam_cruts: Jeff, Adam Dunn's numbers seem to speak for themselves. Halfway to 100 RBI already, and 17+ homers already this year, for a team without any legitimate bats outside of Zimmerman. I understand the concern with his fielding ability (or lack thereof), but a perennial 40 hr 100 rbi guy behind Albert wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, would it?
Jeff Gordon: He weakens you in the OF, fails to address the inability to hit lefties and doesn't fill an acute need position.
I'd rather have an OF of Ludwick, Rasmus and Ankiel catching everything and a better offensive 3b.
joenstl: If the cards believe that Albert may leave nd sign elsewhere, what could the cards get in a trade for Big Al ?
Jeff Gordon: A couple of blue-chip young starting pitchers, a power-hitting OF prospect and a couple more position players.
